About the Founder

Michael Thaler

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York; Michael Thaler Graduated SUNY Binghamton in 1987 with a B.S. in Accounting. Upon Graduation he practiced as a Staff Accountant for Rochlin, Lipsky, Goodkin, Stohler LLP; a mid-sized C.P.A. firm. In September of 1988, Michael joined the team at Astroline Inc. , at the time the second largest private oil trading company in America, where he was a Futures and Options clerk and managed their clearinghouse. In 1990 Michael Established TLR Energy as a Natural Gas and Crude Oil trading and brokering firm, having participated in the trading of Natural Gas futures since its inception he had a positive influence on its success and progress. Since 1999, Michael has been on the NYMEX Charitable Foundation facilitating raising many millions and dispersing the funds to hundreds of local charities. Michael now spearheads Green projects on behalf of NCF.

Michael Thaler now serves as President of the Environmental Markets group at TLR Energy, expected to lead and manage all aspects of its Environmental Markets business. Michael knows that with today's technology providing efficient and instant market price data, exceptional brokering is about solving logistics and supreme client service. Michael Thaler has recently been an invited attendee at the World Business Summit On Global Climate Change in Copenhagen working to mobilize collaboration for businesses to be part of the solution to climate change.


THE TEAM

Paul Tuminaro has worked professionally in Chicago for over 25 years, moving into the city in 1984 to attend DePaul University studying Finance - Pre Law and working at a boutique LaSalle Street Law firm. Going on to work at several white shoe firms becoming a Paralegal and later a Manager of a Law Office. In 1990 he was given the opportunity to work for Pru Bache on the CBOT Bond Trading Floor and was appointed Project A and Globex auxiliary trader for the New York Trading Desk. Later stints included Asian and early European shift electronic and exchange execution for BofA Futures and ChiCorp. Since then he has diversified his business experience by chairing multiple charitable boards, working in Risk, Proprietary Software in both Institutional Futures and Hedge Funds, and more recently in Hedge Fund Sales and Marketing. Most recently he was invited to a symposium at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies where he and came away looking for an ability to shift his work to dovetail with his environmental values. Paul utilizes his substantial business, charitable and political relationships to grow TLR Energy's Midwest operations.
Lisa DeRensis has a Bachelors degree from Brown University and a Masters degree from New York University. She also is a graduate of Coach U's Advanced Training Program and has completed numerous programs at Landmark Education including the Communication Curriculum and the Team Management Leadership Program. Lisa has a broad range of experience in the areas of business management, business development and marketing, event management and training and development. She has particular expertise with professional service firms including architecture and interior design, graphic design, internet and web development, media and communications, and legal. She also has worked with schools and non-profit organizations and was a founding board member of three different educational and cultural non-profit organizations.

As a Trainer and Coach, Lisa has worked with hundreds of people in areas of communication, team-building, project management, leadership, productivity and performance, and customer service. Lisa's vast experience complements the work TLR Energy is committed to providing their clients in the areas of procurement, efficiency, and sustainability. Lisa's focus is bringing our service to design firms, hospitals, property management firms, restaurants, and non- profit organizations.

Dan Schoenbaechler graduated from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in 2005 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. Dan began his career in the business world, specifically in sales. At Professional Economic Growth Group a Financial Services brokerage he developed his knowledge of the financial markets and sales techniques to best serve his clients. He later built upon these skills while working for Glatstian Real Estate Group a Commercial Real Estate Brokerage in New Jersey. Dan joined the Sales team at TLR Energy in 2009. Dan has been contributing his keen and professional ability to assist business/property owners in lowering operational costs.
